Claremont Graduate University hosted the conference titled The Most Segregated Hour: Race and Religion in the American West. The focus of this two-day conference was the intersection of race interactions and theologic issues. The challenge was how illustrate these two concepts.

The solution was to create one large graphic combining a worshipping silhouette with a the tumbleweed—one of the most iconic images associated with the American West. To further emphasize the religious aspect of the conference, placed above the large image were symbols of five different religions.
